We have public meetings every two months in February, April, June, August, October and December.

 

All are welcome at our board meetings where we talk about future developments for Muchty Heritage, as well as time to talk about research projects and give advice.

To join our meetings please become a member here.  Joining instructions for meetings are sent out the day before. 

Our talks are free and are open to the public. They are currently hosted on Zoom for members, and livestreamed on Facebook for the public.  Our previous talks can be watched on our Facebook page, links below.

Auchtermuchty's Distillery 1829-1925

An illustrated talk by Mark Bonthrone on the history of the town's distillery, known as Stratheden Distillery.  Started by the Bonthrone family, local maltsters, the distillery operated for almost 100 years.

Auchtermuchty's Industrial Heritage

An illustrated talk by Ted White.  Learn about the area's industry and business of years gone by.  From blacksmithing and brewing to weaving and woodflour manufacturing.  Ted explains why our town was a key centre for many of our historic businesses.

The High Street - Part 2 (31 to 60 High Street)

An illustrated talk by Ruari Halford-MacLeod on the buildings and residents of the High Street 110 years ago!  This is the second part of the talk which covers buildings from number 31 to 60 High Street.  A fascinating insight into the life of the townsfolk over the last century.

The High Street - Part 1 (Manse to Bellevue)

An illustrated talk by Ruari Halford-MacLeod on the buildings and residents of the High Street 110 years ago!  This is the first part of the talk which covers buildings from the foot of the High Street to Bellevue near the town square.  A fascinating insight into the life of the townsfolk over the last century.

John White and Son, Scotland's Oldest Family Business

An illustrated talk by Ted White on his family's 307 year old business!  From its early beginnings, through its global influence, up to its modern day activities Ted provides fantastic images and facts to support the story of this amazing business.
